Governor John W. Hickenlooper proclaims October 2016 as Chiropractic Health Month. This serves as a reminder to all Coloradans that chiropractic services are an important treatment option that can help alleviate chronic pain.

WHEREAS, decease Chiropractic services are used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches; and
WHEREAS, Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are physician-level providers who focus on the whole person in their approach to health care and pain management; and
WHEREAS, chronic pain often results in unnecessary suffering and loss of human potential, as well as financial and personal costs; and
WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have classified the overuse and abuse of prescription pain medications, such as opioids, in the United States as “epidemic”; and
WHEREAS, the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain and the National Pain Strategy encourage doctors to utilize nonpharmacologic therapies and nonopioid pharmacologic therapies; and WHEREAS, many Coloradans find Chiropractic services to be effective in relief of their chronic pain; and
WHEREAS, Chiropractic Health Month serves as a reminder to all Coloradans that chiropractic services are an important treatment option that can help alleviate chronic pain;
Therefore, I, John W. Hickenlooper, Governor of the entire State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim, forever after, October 2016, as
CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH MONTH
in the state of Colorado.
